Animal Health and Disease Checks
Both Folds are members of ‘Quality Meat Scotland's’ Farm Assurance Scheme and are regularly checked and dosed for worms, liver fluke, ticks and other parasites.

In addition, both Folds are members of the Scottish Agricultural College’s (SAC’s) Premium Cattle Health Scheme and blood samples are taken and tested annually, or as required, at their laboratory for the following cattle diseases:

  • Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus (BVDV)..................Whole herd accredited free since 10/09/2007
  • Johne's disease ........................................Whole herd accredited free since 10/09/2007
  • Leptospirosis ..........................................  Whole herd accredited free since 20/12/2008
  • Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR) ............ Whole herd tested free since 15 April 2013
  • Bovine Tuberculosis (4+ year test cycle area) ........Whole herd tested free on 5 October 2010
  • Bovine Brucellosis ......................................Whole herd tested free on 1 September 2006
  • EBL - A notifiable disease it has been eradicated in Great Britain, and Great Britain was granted EBL - free status by the EU Commission in July 1999 (more information)

Next annual PCHS test date due: April 2023.

The herd is exempt from routine TB testing in 2022 (confirmed by Animal Health Office, Inverness, on 27 August 2021).
